This is the Basic Kayak Course for individuals new to the sport, never been certified or wish to retake the course. For more details on what is covered go to Paddle Canada's website Here and scroll down
If you are sick at the time of the course you cannot attend and we will reschedule you in future courses
Some aspects of the session will be outside so be sure to dress appropriately (especially sun protection) and bring water for hydration.
Although the Gorge can be warm in the summer months, participants will require appropriate immersion clothing, which will include a wet or dry suit as you will be in the water for the capsize recovery (wet exit) and rescue scenarios.
If you have your own PFD that would be ideal, however, it you need to borrow one from the Club that can be arranged, PFD not a life jacket.
Participants can either use their own boats and safety equipment or a club kayak. Participants will be required to properly clean any equipment that is used at the end of the session. Please realize that this usually takes a half hour at the end of the day and is a group effort.
A maximum of 7 registrants will be accepted. All club kayaks and equipment are booked on club training weekends for your use.
Payment must be received at time of booking your spot or it will not be guaranteed.
