This is the Basic Kayak Course for individuals new to the sport, never been certified or wish to retake.  For more details on what is covered go to Paddle Canada's website Here  and scroll down 

Please note that there will be a pre session via Zoom for this course during the week before the course midweek.

All participants are required to adhere to Covid provincial practices during the course. Hopefully many of the restrictions will be removed by that time.

Some aspects of the training will occur via Zoom. Successful registrants will be provided the Zoom information prior to the course. Some aspects of the session will be outside so be sure to dress appropriately. Participants will require appropriate immersion clothing, which will include a wet or dry suit as you will be in the water for the recovery session and the gorge can be cold this time of year. 

If you have your own PFD that would be ideal, however, it you need to borrow one from the Club that can be arranged, PFD not a life jacket. You will be required to bring a whistle as these are mandatory when on the water and not currently on club PFD's due to COVID restrictions.

Participants can either use their own boats and safety equipment or a club kayak. Participants will be required to properly clean any equipment that is used at the end of the session. Please realize that this usually takes a half hour at the end of the day and is a group effort. 

A maximum of 8 registrants will be excepted. If you plan to use a club kayak then indicate this on the registration form. All club kayaks are booked on club training weekends
