A Stroke Ahead Dragon Boat Team (11 Aug 2026)

The Vancouver Island A Stroke Ahead team's weekly practice.

HEAT WARNING: The timing for July 7 and 14 has been changed
to 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM to avoid the hottest part of the day.

Subsequent summer sessions may also be run earlier.

Things to know for your session:

Dress in comfortable "active wear" clothing, in a couple of layers based on the anticipated weather
Bring a water bottle
A hat and/or sunglasses are often nice to have, depending on weather
There will be some water splashes, you may get a little wet - it's a water sport after all!
If you have your own PFD (personal floatation device) or dragon boat paddle, please do bring them with you. Otherwise, we have plenty of club equipment to use.

The team VCKC has put together is a Mixed Blended team named the "Island Storm Surge" to attend this years Penticton Dragon Boat Festival.

Held over two days in September, the racing happens on Skaha Lake in beautiful, sunny, Penticton, British Columbia, Canada.

Dragon Boat Team FGPC Gorge-Fest Slalom Regatta (26 Sep 2026)

VCKC FGPC Gorge-Fest Slalom Regatta.

The FGPC Gorge Fest Dragon Boat Pursuit-Slalom Regatta features three parallel slalom courses with staggered pursuit starts which will allow crews of different abilities to compete safely in exciting, closely contested races that are designed to bring boats to the finish line together.

Each of this one-day regatta’s 3 heats includes:
• 100m straight-line acceleration zone
• 300m gated slalom section
• 100m straight-line sprint finish

House and Grounds Fall Clean-Up (07 Nov 2026)

Come join us for the annual Fall Clean-up at the clubhouse. Tasks include smartening up the outdoor spaces of the clubhouse, deck washing, BBQ cleaning, gutter cleaning, window washing and more. In addition we will be doing a thorough cleaning of the interior including meeting rooms, kitchen and storage areas.

This is a great way to meet other members of the club and put in your volunteer hours. The more people that show up the quicker things get done!
