2018 is the 50th Anniversary of the Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club.
To mark that event, the Club has published a book telling the stories of those fifty years.
A team of VCKC members, some of them members for the entire fifty years, have contributed to the book.
But the book could not have been pulled together without the tireless and dedicated organizing, research, compilation and writing of Alan Thomson.
Purchase your copy now. The commemorative price is $24.99.
Hot-off-the-press books will be available for distribution in September, to coincide with the Anniversary celebration on September 15, 2018
What's a better reason to get out on the water other than just being Tuesday? Well there might be a few, but Tuesday is good enough. Canoe or kayak its a good time to paddle. If there is an instructor onsite they will lead a paddle starting at 6:30PM. If not then its a good time for an individual practice paddle on the Gorge.
Since its a club paddle all federal and club policies must be followed. Wear a PFD at all times on the water. All participants must have basic canoe or kayak certification.
If you require a club kayak for the canoesday paddles please send a request to: email@example.com (note there is no ‘s’ after booking). We have a new policy this year regarding reserving kayaks for "canoesdays". Please email anytime after 6:00 pm on the Monday before the Tuesday paddle. We had problems last year where people reserved kayaks and then didn't show up on Tuesday night. In the meantime I had turned people down because the kayaks were booked.
To celebrate the club's 50th year and summer, let's go paddle Murtle Lake. We will arrive at the portage on Sunday Aug 12. We will co-ordinate transportation to the lake and food at group meetings before leaving. Group size is limited to 10 paddlers, and group 1 is now full.
